#HRtech Exec Moves: HireRight, Glassdoor, Lever

HIRERIGHT NAMES NEW CMO

HireRight, a leading provider of global employment background checks, drug testing, education verification, and electronic Form I-9 and E-Verify solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian D. Ward as Chief Marketing Officer.

Mr. Ward joins HireRight from Experian, where he served as Vice President, Marketing and Strategy for Partner Solutions. In his role as Chief Marketing Officer, Brian is responsible for leading the global strategy and execution of all marketing functions at HireRight. He is laser-focused on customer needs, driving HireRight’s competitiveness in the market and elevating the brand globally.

In his role as Vice President, Marketing and Strategy for Partner Solutions at Experian, he turned around a declining business to double-digit growth. His focus on operational excellence, top performance, and employee engagement led to fiscal goal achievement and the establishment of high-functioning marketing centers of excellence. In previous roles at Experian, he pioneered a global brand transformation, implemented infrastructure enhancements and efficiencies and took P&L ownership of the direct to small business team, revolutionizing their services to yield 20% growth.

GLASSDOOR NAMES NEW PEOPLE OFFICER

Glassdoor, one of the world’s largest job and recruiting sites, today announced Carina Cortez has joined the company as senior vice president and chief people officer. Cortez is responsible for building the company’s people strategy and infrastructure as it continues its global expansion. Glassdoor currently employs nearly 1,000 employees across ten offices in seven countries.

Cortez brings 20 years of HR, recruiting and people operations experience across a diverse set of companies, including Ellie Mae, Walmart eCommerce, PayPal and Visa. Most recently, Cortez was executive vice president of human resources at Ellie Mae, where she led teams in charge of recruiting and retaining employees at a time of rapid growth. Prior to Ellie Mae, Cortez was vice president of human resources at Walmart eCommerce. Cortez is especially experienced with learning and development and has a passion for diversity, inclusion and belonging efforts.

LEVER NAMES NEW CFO & VP ENGINEERING

Lever, the leader in talent acquisition software, is pleased to announce that Ed Tang and Dan Quine have joined the company as Chief Financial Officer and VP of Engineering, respectively. The leadership of Tang and Quine will be critical in guiding Lever during this period of extraordinary growth.

Prior to Lever, Ed Tang served as VP of Strategic Finance, Operations, and Business Analytics at Box. In his five years there, Tang played a critical role in preparing the company for its IPO, building a scalable financial management infrastructure, and implementing best-in-class strategic and financial planning processes. He also drove sales execution by standardizing and automating business processes at a global level.

Before coming to Lever, Dan Quine served as VP of Engineering, Product, and Design at AltSchool, Chief Technology Officer at live music startup Songkick, and co-founder of book publishing company Blurb. Quine also led engineering teams at Google, Apple, and Unicru — an enterprise recruiting software company.

“Quine’s extensive experience leading engineering organizations at high-growth technology companies has given him a unique perspective on how to build mission-critical software that delights users and propels business growth,” said Nate Smith, co-founder and CTO at Lever. “His strength in building and managing high-performance engineering organizations will ensure that Lever engineering will continue to be world-class as we scale globally, accelerate adoption, and deliver innovative technology that solves real customer needs.”

Quine earned his PhD in machine learning from Leeds University where he also served as a visiting professor. He holds 15 patents for his work.
