Shiftgig pivoting to a software-centric approach

CHICAGO, April 18, 2019 — Shiftgig, the leading workforce technology company that empowers people to find local employment opportunities that fit their lifestyles, schedules, and career objectives, today announced its plan to take a software-focused approach going forward, with the transfer of its staffing and national events businesses.

In taking this step, Shiftgig will direct 100% of the company’s focus to developing and selling software. Deploy, the company’s flagship software-as-a-service product, is a data-driven technology platform for redeploying and engaging workers. Deploy is a solution for organizations that rely on large pools of flexible workers for their operating needs. Staffing agencies are ideal customers for Deploy’s speed and flexibility; with the platform’s smart matching algorithm that improves with feedback and other data points, staffing companies can manage their workforce more efficiently.

LGC Hospitality, a national hospitality recruitment agency, will take over 12 of Shiftgig’s staffing business markets. Headway Workforce Solutions, which provides national sector focused workforce solutions, will assume the operations, contracts, and service relationships of the New York market and the national events business line. LGC Hospitality and Headway will also become clients of Shiftgig by leveraging the Deploy platform to manage their staffing operations.

“Our mission has always been focused on empowering workers and transforming the way people work,” commented Rick Bowman, CEO of Shiftgig. “With this transition, we’re sharpening our focus on that mission and driving the continued evolution of our software. We are proud of the strong staffing business our team has built, and we are excited to watch them join LGC Hospitality and Headway and continue to grow their business on Deploy.”

“Shiftgig has developed the premier software for engaging and scheduling workers,” said George Lessmeister, CEO and Founder of LGC Hospitality. “By combining this technology with LGC’s proven service model and national network of branch offices, LGC is prepared to invigorate hospitality staffing.”

J.P. Sakey, Executive Chairman of Headway Workforce Solutions, commented: “Shiftgig has built a cutting-edge business model and toolset in the hospitality and events staffing sectors. We are fortunate to assume its New York-based hospitality staffing market and national event staffing business line. These business lines will fit well with our existing national footprint of solutions and sectors. We look forward to providing many years of quality services to these important clients.”

In the coming year, Shiftgig intends to make enhancements to the Deploy platform to give workers more choices around accessing work, which will provide workers greater flexibility and help them find more relevant work opportunities. By providing data-driven insights to employers on a job seeker’s preferences and true engagement level, the platform will help produce better-fitting matches, leading to higher shift success and greater engagement for staffing agencies.
