Key Gauge of U.S. Producer Prices Rises Less Than Forecast

The producer price index increased 0.4% in August from July and 5.4% on a year-to-year basis, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Excluding food and energy, the PPI rose 0.2% last month and 4.6% from a year ago. Overall goods prices rose 1.1%, while services prices were up 0.1%.
