Vague Job Descriptions Are Costing Employers Candidates

Job descriptions are often one of the first places candidates form an opinion about an employer. But for many workers, that first impression may not be built on trust.

According to Monster’s Job Description Report, only 10% of workers say job descriptions always accurately reflect the reality of the role. At the same time, 78% say they are at least somewhat likely to abandon an application after reading a vague or unclear job description, while 85% say they would be more likely to apply if employers clearly outlined the challenges and expectations of the role.
