LinkedIn now supports a ‘Remote’ job location for job posters

Searching for remote jobs on the major job boards is not that easy. Most databases on job sites were never setup to support listings that had no location attached to them. Typically, users must use the keyword box to find these jobs.

But LinkedIn has a better way.

As of now users can enter the keyword ‘Remote‘ in the location field in the search bar and be presented with jobs that are entirely remote based. Job seekers can also update their Career Preferences to tell recruiters that they’re open to remote positions.

Below is a sample search for remote recruiter jobs.

As a former job board owner myself in the 2000’s this was always a common problem. I was contacted by recruiters a few times each month because the software required them to enter a location in the form of a city and state. Now on Linkedin, when posting your remote jobs all you seemingly have to do is enter the word remote and the problem is solved.

My brethren in the ATS and job board worlds should follow this move to make their databases and job posting features remote friendly. These types of jobs are only growing in nature. It needs fixing ASAP.
