How Rejection and Onboarding Impact Hiring

By Shawna Armstrong

If you have hiring challenges, there are a lot of stops along the employee life cycle to examine.  Pro tip: Sourcing and Recruitment (“just get us more people”) is not always the answer.  Trying to make recruitment keep pace with turnover just results in an accelerating revolving door, with decreasing quality of hires as you exhaust the market and word gets out.

One place to look is Onboarding.  Poorly onboarded employees are twice as likely to leave.  Another place to look is actually outside the employee life cycle – those candidates who do not get hired. How are you treating them?  What are they saying about your company afterwards?  If you have 100 applicants to a job, you likely hire 1, and if you don’t treat those other 99 well, that’s 99 bad reviews.  Now multiply that by your actual job and candidate volumes.

Check out a few tips here on how to improve onboarding and rejection.
