SALT LAKE CITY — MARCH 25, 2019
Merlin, the hourly jobs marketplace, has announced significant growth of its Utah operation and the hiring of Charlie Besecker, formerly of Qualtrics, as Vice President of Sales and Operations to lead the rapid expansion of the already 125 person Utah operation.
“We first came to Utah to work with an external partner to test Sales. We were so impressed with the quality of the talent that we decided to open our own office. The depth of expertise, superb work ethic and extraordinary education of Utah’s talent pool makes it the optimal location to grow our sales and biz ops organizations,” said co-CEO Borja Moreno de Los Rios “The truth is we were highly ambitious in our search. We were looking for an extraordinary business operator and people leader, who shared our social mission and was willing to dream as BIG as we were. Charlie checked every box.”
Prior to joining Merlin, Charlie Besecker served at Qualtrics for six years building out the entry level sales and sales development programs and then the Go-To-Market Enablement and Learning and Development functions globally. Prior to Qualtrics, he led several sales consulting agencies where he built dozens of sales teams for tech companies across multiple industries.
“I’m beyond excited to join Merlin and help scale the mission of helping hourly workers get better jobs and help the backbone of the economy make it easier to find employees,” said Charlie. “Having worked in the Utah tech scene for the last decade I view this as a perfect fit. A social impact-oriented company in Utah’s social impact-oriented culture.”
Merlin’s Utah operation will employ all customer-facing roles including Sales, Sales Operations, Business Development, Account Management, Customer Support, People Operations and more.
