Here Come the National Hiring Days

Over the past few years major retail chains and restaurants have been pushing national hiring days in an effort to staff up quickly. These ‘hiring days’ serve as a call to action for jobs seekers to visit a location anywhere in the U.S and know that they can get a gig. It’s actually a smart recruiting strategy to stand out in a crowded job market.

Most of these chains publish a press release to kick off promotion. Take this one just released by Taco Bell;

One Day, 5,000 Job Openings: Taco Bell® Restaurants Plan for Major Hiring Push on Wednesday, April 21

IRVINE, Calif., April 6, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Taco Bell is preparing for continued restaurant growth and reopenings by launching its fourth annual Hiring Parties event on Wednesday, April 21. Converting parking lots into job fairs, these one-day events with on-the-spot interview opportunities will take place at almost 2,000 participating company and franchise-owned locations across the U.S. The goal is to hire at least 5,000 new team members from this year’s Hiring Parties.

Adhering to COVID-19 safety precautions, this year’s Hiring Parties will be held outside, in creative locations like patio areas—some candidates may even be able to participate in drive-up interviews without needing to leave their car. Among other protocols, all participants and interview spots will stay at least six feet apart and masks are mandatory.

Kudos to the hiring “party” theme by Taco Bell. Hope they give out a free taco!

By collaborating closely with its franchisees, Taco Bell restaurants have pivoted its roles and recruitment efforts in navigating the past year. The goal for this event is to drive 5,000 new team members across the system as the taco chain looks ahead to more restaurant re-openings, remodels and new builds throughout 2021.

Holding a hiring day is great for nearly any employer that has a location to hire for. Simply pick a date, make a plan for interviews and publish a press release in your local paper. News outlets love to cover hiring events as they consider it great content to talk about.

If you are still worried about Covid, consider a drive thru job fair where your recruiters can interview people from their car. These events have also proven to be a popular way to recruit during the pandemic.
