Multiple Resources for Recruiting & Job Searching

By Shawna Armstrong

This week’s tips come from a YouTube video by Greg Hawkes.  While the intent is to provide resources for Recruiting or job searching during COVID, the content is really useful outside a pandemic.  The first set of resources comes from a simple key word search ~ layoff alumni directory ~   Sometimes we get so caught up in advanced sourcing methods, and forget to do the simple things that can yield quick results.

The second is a layoff directory, a repository of both people who have been laid off (for Recruiters) and companies that have laid off (for job seekers and Recruiters who want to help job seekers).  After all, those companies will likely need to hire back.  The third is Bret Feig’s start.me page which has an absolutely massive catalog of resources including trainings, resume groups, layoff lists, hiring lists, and more.  Next, Greg’s free Resume Review Facebook group helps job seekers with free resume reviews, and offers opportunity for Recruiters to give back by being a mentor/reviewer. Have you heard of the Upstream mobile app?  It’s a platform that allows you to network and connect people and jobs.

But wait, there’s more… Alan Fluhrer’s real-time layoff alerts, LI #readytowork and #opentowork hashtags, and lastly, regarding profiles – a gigantic list of where to look for people outside of job boards, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.  Click the link above to check it out.
