A Prediction: the Fire TV Job Board

As Americans cut the cord and turn their attention to streaming marketplaces like Amazon’s Fire TV, Roku and Apple TV, it got me thinking. When are jobs coming to these platforms?

While scrolling though my Fire TV I keep seeing a growing number of apps that I can use. I can play games, connect with various online services and now even use the Firefox or Silk browser to cruise the web. These platforms are becoming more than just watching television. They are  becoming an extension of your computer. The internet is seeping into every device we have.

So my prediction is this: in the next year or two, one of the top job boards such as Glassdoor, Indeed, Monster, CareerBuilder or ZipRecruiter will launch their own jobs app. It’s gonna happen.

I also think the app will be navigable by voice search and could also spur a new rush in job video content. A new “Jobs TV” could rise.

I’m also curious how these vendors might leverage the Alexa’s and Google voice assistants of the world. Will we be hearing “Alexa, find me a job” anytime soon?

Food for thought, in a world of new media.
