New Sites to Source: WayUp Launches Public Profiles

Sourcing tools like Entelo and Hiretual will probably like this news. WayUp, the student focused job market is launching public profiles for it’s 3.5 million members. Designed specifically for “early career candidates“, these profiles will emphasize what makes job seekers desirable to prospective employers outside of traditional work experiences. Users can highlight unique attributes such as hobbies, fun facts, skills, leadership positions, and more.

I wonder which of the sourcing tools will be first to begin crawling them?

The profiles are searchable by search engines and have a simple URL structure similar to what LinkedIn does.

I spoke with a rep their who once described their ambitions as becoming the ‘LinkedIn for early career candidates‘. Profiles like this will certainly help them towards that goal as well as more search engine traffic to user profiles. Can more social networking features be far behind? Perhaps.

In addition to highlighting past jobs and internships, WayUp’s new profiles let users customize a series of modules to feature their YouTube videos, GitHub account, Instagram feed (for photographers, performers, social media mavens, etc.), volunteer and leadership experiences, fun facts, specific coursework, and more.

“We believe that our users are so much more than their work experiences let them show, so we created a profile that allows them to tell their story more holistically,” said Liz Wessel, CEO. “The number one quality companies look for when they hire early career professionals is ‘leaders who can work as a part of a team.’ For millions of students and recent graduates, qualities including leadership, grit, drive, creativity, initiative, and more can and should be shown through experiences unrelated to their work history.”

WayUp profiles are free for students and recent graduates to use and are often the first result in a Google search. Employers who are vetted customers of the platform can proactively search the WayUp database for early career professionals based on the specific information that someone chooses to include in their WayUp profile, and then message them about career opportunities.
