Q&A with Ratedly’s Joel Cheesman

Ratedly is a new mobile app for employers. We asked its founder a few questions over email about the app and what it does.

1. Introduce yourself.

My name is Joel Cheesman. I’m a 20-year veteran of the online employment industry. I’m most recently the founder of Ratedly.

2. What is Ratedly and why did you build it?

Ratedly is an iOS app that aggregates reviews from employee complaint websites.

3. Who is the target audience for the app?

Any HR executive who cares about what past and present employees say about them online. CEOs, brand marketers and even Wall Street types should be interested too. Basically, anyone who wants to know what’s going on with a company’s employees.

4. How does it work?

Go to ratedly.com or visit the App Store and search “ratedly.” You’ll register and choose your company. Subscribe for only $149.99/monthly. You’ll begin receiving reviews within 24 hours, usually. You’ll get Push notifications when new reviews are posted. No need hitting up these days daily or weekend.

5. Whats the future look like for employee reviews online?

I think it begins to fragment. General reviews rule today, but we’re already seeing review sites specializing in women or MBAs. Every demo may have their own review site one day, similar to job boards.

6. What do you miss most about your days running Cheezhead?

The haters.
