New York State Authorizes Health Care Staffing Profit Cap—What Comes Next

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the state’s FY 2027 budget on May 28, nearly two months past its April 1 deadline. Due to sustained pressure from labor unions, most notably the Service Employees International Union—the budget retained a provision authorizing the New York Department of Health to consider regulations that could cap the profits of health care staffing agencies.
