Top 10 Companies with Best Perks

From adoption assistance to subsidized student loan repayments, a new study reveals which Fortune 100 companies across Europe and US offer the best work perks. Alphabet (Google) is top for its generous flexible working schemes and holiday packages.

by Microsoft Office productivity add-in UpSlide, looks at largest corporations in the US and Europe to determine which companies offer their employees the best work perks – based on what they want.

A recent US Glassdoor study shows employees prefer health insurance (40%), paid time off (37%) and performance bonuses (35%) over a pay rise, and out of the top 13 benefits cited, not one of them was a lavish work perk – employees now want benefits that enhance their life.

The study finds that major companies offer lavish work perks but fail to cover the basics that people actually want. Apple organises expensive staff socials and festivals with artists such as Stevie Wonder, but doesn’t put focus on employee healthcare packages and development plans on the job section of the website.

According to the study, flexible working environments are deciding factor in them choosing a workplace, but only 22% of Fortune 100 companies offer this as an option.

As part of the research, UpSlide has created a happiness index, allowing users to select which work perks matter to them. The index shows companies that best match your search to show best-fit companies.

There are several workplace benefits that can set companies apart, and according to the study, these major organisations are going to extremes to attract employees based on what’s useful to them now.

Rob Jones, UK CEO from UpSlide said: “Workplace benefits extend beyond helping employees learn career skills and take control of their schedules – they help instil work-life balance, increase efficiency and ultimately decrease staff turnover. According to previous studies, employees care a lot about perks that help improve their quality of life [RJ3] [EW4] day-to-day –  despite this, many employers still focus on lavish work perks over benefits like flexible working”.

“At UpSlide, employee happiness is at the heart of everything we do and that’s why we were ranked first place in the Happiness at Work Index 2019”
