Social Media Post Ticks Off Sourcers

There’s a bit of a controversy taking place on Facebook over a recent LinkedIn post by Lou Adler, the famous recruiting trainer. In it, he calls for his followers to “burn their boolean blackbelts” a reference to fellow trainers Glen Cathey, Shally Steckrel, Johnny Campbell and others who have been instrumental in educating recruiters about boolean string sourcing.

Adler’s post which can be viewed here, also tags Glen and the others in an attempt to draw more clicks seems to disparage their efforts in favor of his own training services.

Glen posted it to his Facebook feed to get others reaction and the sentiment was clearly negative against Adler or whoever on his team posted it. I would agree. Calling out your competition like this is a poor attempt at attention grabbing.

This incident (even if a small one) should remind other social media marketers in the recruiting space to be careful what you wish for.
