In a recent article, the Harvard Business Review doesn’t mince words on the souring relationship between employers and employees: “People stay in roles out of necessity rather than loyalty — an unsustainable arrangement that results in predictably low engagement.”

And just how low is engagement? HBR notes that a recent Gallup report found that only 23% of U.S. employees are engaged at work, a meager 34% say they are thriving at their job, and over half of all respondents are looking for a new gig in some shape or form.
