LinkedIn is introducing an Events feature, to help users plan in-person networking meetups. The service is rolling out slowly to users worldwide.
I noticed the feature on my phone app though it has yet to appear on my desktop version. According to LinkedIn:
The LinkedIn Events feature provides members with an easy way to create and join professional events that interest them. This feature helps grow active, professional communities by building authentic, face-to-face relationships. LinkedIn members can use the feature to connect online with other members so they can meet them offline in a professional capacity.
Note: At this time, the ability to organize an event is being gradually rolled out to all our LinkedIn members. However, anyone can join an event (public or private) if they receive an invitation from the organizer or an attendee, or from an event that’s been shared by a connection. We’ll be making the experience more widely available soon.
LinkedIn Events
Events is a long overdue feature for LinkedIn and I think this new service will grow over time.
