How Red Banyan Writes Their Job Ads

Evan Nierman, a respected communications expert and founder of strategic communications agency RedBanyan, which has offices in South Florida and Washington, D.C., notes that attracting top talent in today’s highly competitive business environment can be challenging for even the largest organizations with the best benefit packages.

Research shows that the quality of a job description can have a dramatic impact on the quality of candidates a company can attract. A poorly written job description can be as much as 50 percent less effective at grabbing the attention of the most qualified candidates.

To be effective, a job description needs to be detailed, honest, engaging and well written. It needs to clearly explain the job summary, the candidate’s responsibilities, qualifications and provide clear instructions for applying. It is also important to provide potential candidates with enough information about the company, its culture and core values.

A job description is often the first piece of information that an applicant sees about your company. And as the saying goes, “you never get a second chance to make a first impression.” This is why creating a well-written, engaging job description may just be the most effective way to attract the best talent.

Here’s a look at one such job ad from their site.

Wanted: Director of Client Services – Washington, D.C. Office

Results, Integrity, Commitment/Can-Do Attitude, Accountability and Speed. Those are our five core values at Red Banyan. We are a dynamic, young and growing public relations firm that delivers results for our clients and helps them achieve their business goals.

Our clients include the leading pro-Israel organizations in the country, as well as a fascinating mix of corporate clients from a diverse range of industries.

If you are simply looking for a job or in need of work, then please do not apply. For us, it’s not really “work” to wake up every day excited about what lies ahead. We truly love what we do and it shows.

Red Banyan is currently looking for a passionate, energetic and positive team player with the same skill, creativity and enthusiasm that we bring to every single one of our engagements.

Specifically, we are looking for a Director of Client Services who can provide leadership and direction for the Washington, D.C. and Florida-based clients services staff in support of overall business objectives. We need you to maintain and grow existing and new client relationships.

If this sounds like you, then we should talk.

To be considered, you must include your resume and salary history/requirements. You also must send us an essay of fewer than 450 words providing concrete examples of ways you have demonstrated our core values in your own life. Send everything to Robbin Lubbehusen, Vice President of Operations at robbin@redbanyan.com.  She will review all candidate submissions.
