Frederick, Maryland – Jan. 17, 2019 – iHire today unveiled its inaugural U.S. Job Industry Recap and Outlook Report, an annual review of the job market and predictions for the coming year. Sharing insights on the 35 million job postings across 56 industry-specific talent communities, iHire’s eBook is available to download for free.
Key findings in iHire’s report include:
- Top Hiring Industries: Transportation (5.38 million), Nursing (3.55 million), and Technology (3.44 million) boasted the most job openings in 2018, followed by Sales, Retail, Hospitality, and Engineering.
- Top Career Titles: Career titles in highest demand included CDL Truck Driver (2.26 million), Sales Representative (1.96 million), and Registered Nurse (RN) (1.77 million). Software Developer and Sales Clerk also had more than 1 million postings.
- Top Desired Skills: Employers most sought personnel with management skills (2.80 million), as well as training and development (2.23 million) and communications skills (2.03 million).
- Top Hiring Geographic Areas: California, Texas, Florida, New York, and Ohio were hot states for job openings, with New York-Newark- Jersey City leading the way for metropolitan areas.
