Business leaders who strive to climb the corporate ladder often struggle to understand why millennials don’t show the same inclination, and they may put it down to laziness or lack of ambition. That’s a dangerous way of thinking because talented young people, so crucial to businesses’ futures, are an increasingly rare commodity. They must be attracted, not repelled. We run a program in which we invite millennials to have a voice in strategic meetings and to provide feedback on global initiatives, which helps them to learn while providing us with new perspectives on things.
