Every October, the history and progress of employment for people with disabilities is celebrated across the nation. There have been great strides in the standards set for people with disabilities to enter the workforce – but there is still much work to be done. Disability employment practice is far more complex than simply placing people in jobs. I identify four overlapping domains of disability employment – individual goals and expectations, professional development, employer partnerships, and policy advocacy.
