The volume of data companies can access in the digital age is overwhelming, and interpreting the meaning of these figures can be even more daunting. So, how do you decide which metrics to incorporate into your evaluation strategy? By keeping one rule in your strategic arsenal.
If you can’t act on it or make decisions based on it, don’t measure it.

Facebook rolls out job search to become the blue-collar LinkedIn. After performing a month-long study with over tens of thousands of employees from small and local businesses, Facebook has decided to move forward with the expansion of a job search function integrated into the platform. With the understanding the these local businesses enrich their communities and create over 60% of new jobs, they’re looking to expand and assist in the hiring process by allowing the ability to browse jobs and apply directly in more than 40 countries. Since introducing this function, they’ve added multiple features including mobile job creation, managing applications, and scheduling interviews as well as vacancy alerts. And it’s no small feat – in an online poll of 5,000 adults, over a quarter said that they had searched for jobs or found one through Facebook. Source: Jobs Portal Watch
Glassdoor could go public in 2018, Bloomberg reports. Glassdoor is interviewing banks to advise on an initial public offering, which could come in the second half of 2018, sources told Bloomberg. Glassdoor has raised $204.5 million in venture capital, according to Crunchbase. Its most recent funding round was in 2016, when the company raised $40 million at a reported valuation of over $1 billion, in a deal led by T. Rowe Price. Source: Jobs Portal Watch

Triplebyte is a three-year-old, 25-person, San Francisco-based hiring platform that says it makes recruiting and technical screening for tech companies more efficient. One of its biggest differentiators is that its process is “background blind,” meaning it’s ostensibly able to get engineers in front of companies that might not otherwise be interested in them based on their past employers or education. How? By operating like an applied research company. While Triplebyte had originally sealed up $4.5 million in seed funding, it just closed on a fresh $10 million in Series A funding.
