How to Post a Job on Facebook

This week our pals at Facebook have begun rolling out a new job posting functionality for businesses via their company pages. Not everyone has it just yet but you should soon be seeing a new icon in the main “write something” area of your company page. You can only do this from a page not your personal account.

For now, posting a job on Facebook is ideal for small businesses with hourly/entry-level type roles. It has traditionally been this way if you look at the types of jobs that are being shared in places like local groups. But to be sure this will be a welcome feature for many businesses who need to hire.

The job posting form is fairly simple however the only way to accept applies is through Facebook itself. Any applies to your jobs will pop up in Messenger chat box. From there it’s up to you to respond to the candidate.

The jobs all get listed into a new “Facebook job board” at https://www.facebook.com/jobs where you can filter and search for jobs near you. It defaults to your current location, at least in my testing. It will be interesting to see how this page evolves and if searching for jobs gets better as the site scales. With nearly 2 billion users only Facebook has the reach to ever rival sites like Indeed. But Indeed could use a little competition since they have become so relied upon by employers. Free traffic from Facebook could siphon off that relationship over time.

I tried to apply for a job and the site pre-populates the form with information from my About profile. Users can enter all their employment history in their profile so this new move behooves them to begin filling it out with more detail. Move over Linkedin, apply with Facebook has arrived.

The bottom of the apply form has these details. The application is privately sent to the employer.
